According to police officials, a security guard, during a routine round, found that the washroom door in the company canteen area was locked from inside. The guard made several attempts to get a response from inside, while knocking on the door. However, all his attempts went in vain. After this, he raised an alarm and informed the company authorities. The authorities called the cops. A team from the Hinjewadi police station swung into action and immediately reached the spot.

What does initial probe suggest

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone II) Vishal Gaikwad reportedly said that initial investigation indicates that it is a case of suicide. He added that Oswal used a mobile phone charging wire to hang himself inside the washroom. Police officials said preliminary findings indicate that Oswal may have been under stress due to financial losses linked to betting.

Gaikwad was quoted as saying by Times of India that initial probe suggested that the man had suffered losses in betting activities. Before taking the extreme step, he sent a message to his family members, the contents of which are being examined as part of the ongoing probe.

The post-mortem examination of the body has been carried out. Police said a detailed report is being made and further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact sequence of events that led to the incident.

The police said they will record statements of Oswal's family members, his colleagues, and company officials to get to the bottom of the case and know the circumstances in which he died in a better manner.

So far, there is no suspicion of any foul play. Police have registered a report of accidental death. They said further action will depend on the findings of the ongoing probe.
