Rahul Gandhi visits Assam to pay tribute to late singer Zubeen Garg

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi arrived in Guwahati to pay tribute to deceased singer Zubeen Garg. He will visit Sonapur and meet Garg's family to offer condolences. Garg, 52, passed away in Singapore on September 19th. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma noted the visit occurs 28 days after Garg's death, commenting, "better late than never."

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to arrive in Guwahati today to pay his respects to the late Assamese singer, Zubeen Garg. A party spokesperson confirmed the visit. Following his arrival, Gandhi will proceed to Sonapur, on the outskirts of Guwahati, where the singer's last rites were performed, to offer his respects. He is also expected to visit the residence of the deceased artist to convey condolences to the bereaved family members.

Zubeen Garg, aged 52, tragically passed away in Singapore on September 19th after an incident while swimming in the sea. An SIT is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the singers death.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reacted to Rahul Gandhi's visit, stating that the Congress leaders tribute to the cultural icon comes 28 days after his passing. Chief Minister Sarma remarked, "better late than never," and also expressed that he had anticipated a senior Congress leader, such as Priyanka Gandhi, to be present at the singers cremation.
