"My sister Sarla got married in 2005 to Ashok, who is a resident of Kakda. As Sarla did not have children, my sister was regularly harassed and beaten by Ashok. We tried several times to reconcile the couple, but after some time, the abuse would start again. Today, he set my sister ablaze in the cow dung structure (Bitora) and began performing the last rites. We were unaware of this. When we found out, we rushed to Kakda, but before we could reach, the police had already taken my sister’s body to Deeg Hospital," Sarla’s brother Vikrant said.
