'Forced to drop 'Hurriyat chairman' designation from X after govt pressure': Cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq

Kashmir Cleric and chairman of Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has claimed he was forced to drop the designation from his X profile following pressure from authorities. Umar Farooq made the revelation in a post on X (formerly Twitter) saying he was told to change the designation as all factions of Hurriyat chairman are banned by the Central government under the provisions of Unlawful Activities Prevention (UAPA). Protests, clashes outside Bangladesh High Commission in Delhi over lynching of Hindu man

New Delhi: Massive protests were carried by various right-wing organisations including Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) outside Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi over the killing of Hindu man and attacks on Hindu minorities. Speeding car rams into two-wheeler in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh, two seriously injured

A speeding car rammed into a two-wheeler, at Neppalle in Kankipadu mandal of Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday. The incident was caught on CCTV.  Two youngsters on the scooter, who were without helmet, flung into air upon impact. The men on a two-wheeler, were trying to cross the road, without noticing the speeding car at the intersection. The two were seriously injured and a bystander was also caught in the crosshairs.  All the three injured were shifted to Kankipadu govt hospital. In CCTV, one can see the Hyundai Creta car tried to slow down but stopped after hitting the duo on two-wheeler.

Bengaluru man dies after falling on tracks at Kengeri metro station; chaos follows on roads

In a tragic incident, a middle aged man fell on the metro railway tracks at Kengeri metro station on Friday morning. The deceased has been identified as Shantagoud Police Patil, resident of Devara Hipparagi in Vijayapura district, officials said. Following the incident, the metro service between Mysuru Road and Challaghatta station were suspended. However, the services on the Purple Line operated till Mysuru road only.
