New Delhi: Security agencies have been on high alert since Monday's car blast which killed at least 13 people in the national capital Delhi. The probe agencies have been continuously raiding multiple places states across the country in connection with the explosion. Police have so far arrested over 18 people.
Meanwhile, the probe agencies revealed that Umar Mohammad, a doctor working at Al Falah Medical College in Haryana's Faridabad, reportedly conducted a recce of the Red Fort before the blast. The agencies also revealed that the dump data analysis of Muzammil Shakeel's phone revealed that he had visited the Red Fort multiple times.
i20 car parked at Faridabad university for 10 days
Another important piece of information revealed by agencies stated that i20 car involved in the Red Fort blast and belonging to Umar remained parked at the Al-Falah University campus for 10 days. The car was parked next to Dr Muzammil's Swift, which is registered in Dr Shaheen Shahid's name.
Investigating agencies suspect the i20 car was parked at the university from October 29 to November 10. The car was bought on October 29 and taken out for a Pollution Under Control certificate (PUC) the same day, with CCTV footage showing three people inside.
Earlier, the agencies believed that Dr Umar drove his i20 car out of the university in panic on November 10, after raids were conducted on other opertaives. The car was then spotted in Connaught Place and then in the Mayur Vihar area. The car was finally parked in the Sunehri Masjid parking lot in Chandni Chowk in Old Delhi. According to investigating agencies, the module's handler was operating from abroad.
As per security sources, forensic examinations have revealed the use of high-grade military explosives along with ammonium nitrate. Delhi Police and other agencies are now investigating any foreign connections. The probe in the case has now been handed over to NIA.
Recce of Red Fort
Muzammil's interrogation has brought to light important revelations. It is believed Dr Muzammil and Dr Umar reportedly conducted a recce of the Red Fort in the first week of January. This came to light during the dump data analysis of Dr. Muzammil's phone. During the interrogation, the investigating agency also learned that targeting the Red Fort on January 26 (Republic Day) was part of their planning.
Car spotted in Mayur Vihar and Connaught Place
The car that exploded near Red Fort was spotted in several areas of Delhi including the Connaught Place. The vehicle arrived there at 2:30 pm on the day of the incident and departed shortly thereafter. The car was also spotted in Mayur Vihar before reaching CP.
