iBomma controversy: Actors Nagarjuna, Chiranjeevi meet CP VC Sajjanar after Immadhi Ravi arrest

Immadhi Ravi, a key operator in the iBomma piracy website creation, has been arrested and sent to 14-day judicial custody in Chanchalguda prison.

Hyderabad: Veteran actors Akkineni Nagarjuna, Chiranjeevi, Director SS Rajamouli and producer Dil Raju met Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar on Monday, November 17, shortly after the arrest of Immadhi Ravi, a key operator in the iBomma piracy website.

Speaking to the media, Sajjanar revealed details on the piracy network. He stated that Ravi used advanced tools to capture OTT films via screen recording and uploaded high quality pirated versions across multiple sites and deployed secret, high-end cameras to record new theatrical releases and ran the entire operation through Telegram channels.

He further stated that 21,000 films were found on the seized hard disks, spanning from Godfather (1972) to the latest OG. He earned Rs 20 crore through the network, with officials seizing Rs 3 crore so far.

"Ravi used a fake identity, Prahlad Kumar to obtain a PAN card and driving licence in Maharashtra. He launched the website in 2019 and operated it using 110 domains. He travelled across Caribbean, France, Dubai, Switzerland, Netherlands while uploading pirated content and designing websites.”

Nagarjuna issues strong warning:

Speaking at the press meet, Actor Nagarjuna said, "Free movie websites are a trap. One of my family members came under a digital arrest for almost 2 days. We had to approach the police The moment we open such sites, our personal data goes straight into the hands of cyber criminals. Rs 20 crore is nothing. These networks make thousands of crores.”
