New Delhi: The new year brought the schizophrenic daughter of a former officer of the Indian Army much-needed relief from harassment by land mafia elements after Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath came to her rescue.

CM Adityanath's prompt help

After the death of her father and siblings, the victim Anjana has been battling schizophrenia and moved to a rehabilitation centre in Lucknow. In the meantime, her vacant house, A-418 in A block of Indiranagar, was allegedly grabbed by Balwant Kumar Yadav of Chandauli and his aide Manoj Kumar Yadav, using forged documents.

Her father, late Bipin Chandra Bhatt, was a Major in the Indian Army, and he passed away in 1994. He had three children, and only Anjana survives today. In 2016, she was admitted to the Nirvan Rehabilitation Centre, and she has been treated there since then. The accused installed their own nameplate after taking over the house and transferred it to their names.

Police act without any delay

In a bid to regain her house, Anjana met CM Adityanath and explained her situation. The CM took serious note of the matter and promptly ordered the police and district administration to act without delay. The police recovered her multi-crore property and arrested the accused within just 24 hours.

The incident shows how the UP government has taken a zero-tolerance policy against land mafia and is committed to delivering swift justice. Notably, Anjana had lodged a police complaint on December 6, but the process was delayed. Hence, she met CM Adityanath on December 31, who immediately ordered strict action.

Victim expresses gratitude

After the house was formally given back to Anjana in the presence of police and administrative officials, she thanked the CM with folded hands. She said in a trembling voice, "Thank you, Yogi Uncle. God bless you." She cried in joy as she walked through every room, and she lit a lamp, broke a coconut, offered flowers, and shared emotional moments with neighbours. The two accused have been taken into custody and booked for criminal conspiracy, cheating, and use of forged documents.
