Jabalpur: In a shocking incident, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader recently harassed a visually impaired woman in Jabalpur district. The woman leader also made some derogatory remarks about the visually impaired woman in the conversation.
In the video that has gone viral, the BJP leader can be heard saying that while the woman remained blind in this life, she would remain blind in the next life as well. The accused leader has been identified as a BJP district functionary.
The BJP leader also questioned the woman for wearing vermilion and for bringing the child into the church. The woman leader is also seen getting into the physical confrontation with the victim. The police officials present were seen trying to calm the situation and separate those involved in the scuffle.
The incident is linked to a December 20 protest at a church in Gorakhpur area of the district. Some Hindu groups had gathered outside the church, claiming that forced conversions were going on in the area, especially among visually impaired kids, which led to tensions.
As per a report published in NDTV, BJP district functionary Anju Bhargava was present at the protest site along with BJP activists. Just as she entered the church she saw the differently-abled woman and some children inside the premises. This followed the confrontation which was captured on camera.
