Vaibhav Suryavanshi starred with the bat as India U19 defeated South Africa U19 by 8 wickets via the DLS method in the 2nd youth one-day match at Willowmoore Park in Benoni, securing their second straight victory in the series. Suryavanshi slammed a sensational knock of 24-ball 68 to help India post 176/2 in just 23.3 overs in their 246-run chase to win the game comfortably via DLS method.
After Kishan Kumar Singh's four-wicket haul helped India skittle out South Africa for 245 runs in 49.2 overs, the visitors appeared to be cruising towards a thumping win thanks to a fiery start from opener Suryavanshi. However, India couldn't complete the run chase as rain ensured the result was declared vis DLS method with the visitors at 176/2 after 23.3 overs.
Suryavanshi stole the show with the bat as he channelled his inner IPL star to once again showcase why he is one of the most highly-rated youngsters in world cricket at present. The 14-year-old sensation slammed a quickfire 68 off just 24 balls, which was laced with as many as ten sixes and a solitary four.
The swashbuckling left-hander opened the batting for India with Aaron George and launched a scathing attack on the South African bowling attack from the word go. Suryavanshi added 67 runs for the first wicket with George, who was dismissed after scoring 20 off 19 balls.

The left-hander continued his blistering run after George's departure as he wreaked havoc on the hosts. Suryavanshi notched up his fifty off just 19 balls with a six against Bayanda Majola in the 8th over and quickly moved to 68 off just 23 balls with a hat-trick of sixes in the same over.
The left-hander was eventually dismissed on 68 by Michael Kruiskamp in the next over. Thanks to his blistering half-century, India were in comfortably above the required score when rain hampered the proceedings and were declared the winners of the 2nd youth ODI via DLS method. With the win, India attained an unassailable 2-0 lead to clinch the three-match series.
Suryavanshi, who is leading India U19 in the absence of regular skipper Ayush Mhatre, warmed up in style for the upcoming U19 World Cup 2026 with his stupendous knock in the 2nd youth one-day game against South Africa on Monday. The left-hander has been in fine form for India U19 and will be hoping to continue his purple patch in the third and final youth one-day match against South Africa on Wednesday, January 07.
Suryavsnhi will be one of the key players for India in the U19 World Cup, which will be played in South Africa from January 15 to 06 February. Mhatre-led India will open their campaign against USA in Bulawayo on January 15.
