New Delhi: Arshdeep Singh matched an unwanted record of bowling most deliveries in an over in T20Is during India’s 2nd match of a five-match series against South Africa in Mullanpur on Thursday.

The seamer needed 13 balls to complete the 11th over of South Africa’s innings, as he delivered seven wides, to equalise Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq’s mark against Zimbabwe in Harare in 2024.

It was the lengthiest over by an Indian, overtaking Khaleel Ahmed's 11-ball over against Sri Lanka in Pallekele in 2021 and Hardik Pandya's 11 balls in Adelaide in 2016.

Left armer Arshdeep conceded 18 runs in the over, including a six and seven wides. He was lofted straight towards the sightscreen in his first delivery for a six by Quinto de Kock.

Arshdeep’s line and length went haywire after the blow as he bowled two successive wides, followed by a dot ball.

His accuracy deserted him in the next four deliveries as all of them were called wide. A single was taken in the third legitimate ball of the over, followed by a couple and a single.

But Arshdeep again bowled a wide down the leg side before completing the over as a single was taken of the last delivery.
