Deepti Sharma reaches unprecedented heights in ICC T20I rankings

Deepti Sharma pipped Aussie pacer Annabel Sutherland by the slimmest of margins to climb to the top of the ICC T20I rankings with 737 points.

Star India all-rounder Deepti Sharma scaled new heights in her career by reaching the summit of the ICC women's T20I bowling rankings for the first time.

The 28-year-old India star benefited from his haul of 1 for 20 in the opening T20I of the home series against Sri Lanka in Visakhapatnam.

The sole success in the 1st T20I was enough for the off-spinner to gain five rating points and surpass Australia fast bowler Annabel Sutherland. Deepti pipped the Aussie pacer by the slimmest of margins to climb to the top of the table with 737 points.

Meanwhile, pacer Arundhati Reddy has jumped five places to be 36th while spinner Shree Charani rose 19 places to 69th.

Adjudged Player of the Match in the opening match against Sri Lanka for her unbeaten 69 off 44 balls, Jemimah Rodrigues moved up five spots to ninth among T20I batters. Courtesy of Jemimah's superb knock, India comfortably beat Sri Lanka by eight wickets in Visakhapatnam.

Mandhana retains top spot in T20Is, slips in ODI rankings

Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana remains the top-ranked Indian, occupying the third spot. Meanwhile, Shafali Verma slipped a spot to 10.

In the Women's ODI batting charts, Mandhana lost her top spot to South Africa skipper Laura Wolvaardt has replaced Mandhana as the No.1 batter.

Twin centuries boost Wolvaardt

Wolvaardt rose to the summit courtesy of successive centuries in the second and third matches of their home series against Ireland - 124 and 100 not out. The twin tons helped her open up a nine-point lead over the India opener as well as reach a career-best 820 rating points.

Ireland captain Gaby Lewis climbed four places to 18th after knocks of 45 and 64.

Her team-mate Amy Hunter jumped three spots from 31st to 28th, while the South African duo of Sune Luus (up seven places to 34th) and Dane van Niekerk (up 24 places to 95th) also progressed in the 50-over rankings.
