IND vs SA, 2nd Test, Day 5: Sudharsan, Jadeja fight to avoid whitewash

New Delhi: India have yet not given up in the chase of impossible 549 runs against South Africa in the second Test match in Guwahati. In the first session of the final day at the Baraspara cricket stadium, Indian batters Sai Sudharsan and Ravindra Jadeja were fighting hard for a draw when Tea was called on Wednesday.

India were 90 for the loss of 5 wickets at the end of Session 1 on Day 5, still needing 459 runs to win the second Test match and save a whitewash. South Africa, on the other hand, need five more wickets to register a clean series sweep over the hosts. In the first session of the play, India lost three more wickets and scored 63 runs as the hosts continue to battle their way to save some pride in the home Test series.

Jadeja was batting on 23 runs of 40 balls while Sudharsan was batting on 14 off 138 balls after India resumed from their overnight score of 27 for 2 in the morning. For the Proteas, Simon Harmer emerged as the pick of the bowlers claiming 4 wickets and giving away just 23 runs while the remaining one wicket was picked by Marco Jansen.

Three wickets down for IND in 1st session

After Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul were dismissed in the last session on Tuesday for 13 and 6 respectively, it did not take much time for nigh watchman Kuldeep Yadav, Dhruv Jurel and Rishabh Pant to depart in the morning session of play. The three players were out for 5, 2 and 13 runs respectively as Proteas continued to wreak havoc on the Indian side.
