New Delhi: The Duleep Trophy 2025 quarterfinals may not have gone East Zone's way but they produced a talent who left his mark not just on the competition but for the country. The 21-year-old Jharkhand left-arm spinner Manishi on his debut in the red-ball tournament, achieved a feat that puts him in the company of some of the world's most renowned cricket names.
While playing at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, he picked up six wickets in North Zone's first innings, finishing off with figures 6 for 111 in 22.2 overs. While East Zone lost the match but his spell made waves across the domestic circuit. The defining thing was that Manish equalled a world record for dismissing six batters leg-before in a single innings, as he is the first Indian bowler to ever do so.
The wickets Manishi took include Shubham Khajuria (26), Ankit Kumar (30), Yash Dhull (39), Kanhaiya Wadhawan (76), Auqib Nabi (44) and Harshit Rana (7). When he got Rana in the 92nd over he joined the elite list of just six bowlers worldwide to record six LBW dismissals in an innings in first-class cricket.
He also improved his personal best of 4/99 for Jharkhand in Ranji Trophy as he got his maiden five-wicket haul in first-class cricket. The other players to achieve the feat are listed below.

So far Manishi has only nine first-class matches under his belt in three years but has already developed a reputation as a match-winner. He was one of Jharkhand's standout performers in last season's Ranji campaign, taking 22 wickets at an average of 27.22. His consistency at the domestic level paved the way for an East Zone call-up, which he has now justified with his record-equalling effort.
The youngster has international exposure at the junior level, having represented India U-19 in a four-day match against South Africa, where he claimed seven wickets.
While his side's campaign ended in disappointment, Manishi's spell will be remembered as one of the highlights of this year's Duleep Trophy. His record might serve as the stepping stone towards greater recognition and perhaps one day the ultimate goal of wearing a Test cap.
