Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings have pipped the traditional giants of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to emerge as the most searched IPL team on Google in 2025. The IPL 2025 finalists have secured the 4th spot on Google's Top 5 Most Searched Sports Teams of 2025. They are the highest-ranked IPL team on the elite list.
Punjab Kings securing the top spot among IPL teams on Google's list of most searched sports teams in the world highlights the franchise's expanding reach and strong digital presence. They have managed to topple the likes of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and reigning IPL champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on the back of a stellar campaign in IPL 2025.
Punjab Kings enjoyed a phenomenal run in IPL under their captain Shreyas Iyer, who led by example and helped the team reach their first final since 2014 in his maiden season as skipper. Under Iyer, Punjab emerged as one of the strongest teams in IPL 2025, making waves with their performances in the group stage.
Though they failed to lift their maiden title after losing to RCB in the final by six runs, they managed to win hearts with their brilliant run. As their performances elevated on the field under the talismanic leadership of Iyer, the franchise also witnessed a massive increase in fan engagement across all social media platforms.
Punjab Kings are the fourth-most searched sports team on Google in 2025, behind only Paris Saint-Germain, Benfica and Toronto Blue Jays. They are the highest-ranked IPL team on the list, followed by Delhi Capitals, who are in the fifth spot.

As per Google, the rankings are determined on the basis of total search volume over a fixed period of time. The rankings are also influenced by sustained interest and global search distribution for a topic.
IPL franchises will dominate headlines once again when the IPL 2026 auction takes place in Abu Dhabi on December 16. All ten franchises revealed their final list of retained players last month, ahead of the auction, and will be looking to strengthen their respective squads with some quality additions.
Punjab Kings are likely to be among the least busy teams at the auction as they already have a settled squad, having released only six players. They released the likes of Glenn Maxwell, Josh Inglis and Kyle Jamieson ahead of the auction and have Rs 11.50 crore remaining in their purse for the IPL 2026 auction.
