New Delhi: India's head coach Gautam Gambhir was expected to give credit to veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli after the culmination of the South Africa ODI series but he didn't. Both the senior players played a pivotal role in India winning the ODI series with their flamboyant performances especially in the third and final match.
While its widely known that Gambhir does not get along well with both Kohli and Rohit and prefers a young team keeping in view the upcoming showpiece events and the future of Indian cricket. Meanwhile, the cricketing fraternity has been presenting mixed views regarding the same with few in favour of his working style while many against it.
Former Indian player Robin Uthappa on Thursday took to his YouTube channel to slam India's head coach Gambhir saying that he was shocked to see that any credit wasn't given to the veteran duo after the culmination of the ODI series against South Africa. He further said that both Rohit and Virat batted out their skins and showed the entire world how good they still are.
'What I found surprising is the post-match of that series, in the press conference, I didn't see Gautam giving credit to either Rohit or Virat. Here are a couple of guys who've batted out of their skins and shown us how good they are and how good they can be. They reduced all kinds of doubts and shut down any naysayers about what they actually can do and will do for India when they are in the right kind of form. That felt strange,' Uthappa said on his YouTube channel.
Meanwhile, the iconic pair will return to entertain the masses in the ODI series against New Zealand next month. The first ODI of the three-match series will begin on January 11.
