Shubman Gill to return from injury in South Africa T20I series
He had suffered a neck sprain during the first Test against South Africa in Kolkata and subsequently sat out the second red-ball match in Guwahati and the ongoing ODI series.
New Delhi: Shubman Gill has recovered from a neck injury and will be back for India in their T20I series against Wednesday.
He had suffered a neck sprain during the first Test against South Africa in Kolkata and subsequently sat out the second red-ball match in Guwahati and the ongoing ODI series.
The T20I series begins on December 9, Gill is the vice-captain of the team to Suryakumar Yadav and leads the Test and ODI sides.
"Gill has recovered fully and will be back as vice captain," a BCCI source told PTI.
No meeting
Reports of the Board holding a meeting with veterans Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma and head coach Gautam Gambhir over a reported rift won't be held in between the ongoing series.
"No meeting will take place mid-series. We will see what's to be done once the series is over," the source added.
India lost the Test series 0-2, leading to intense criticism of Gambhir, and after the first ODI in Ranchi, reports surfaced of him not being on talking terms with Kohli and Sharma.
