Kumar Kushagra slammed a blistering knock of 84 runs off 48 balls to help Jharkhand beat Tamil Nadu by 28 runs and bag their sixth win in a row in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2025. The wicket-keeper batter came out to bat at no.3 after the early departure of skipper Ishan Kishan (2) and took the Tamil Nadu bowlers to the cleaners en route to his quickfire unbeaten 84.
Kushagra's 48-ball 84 was laced with five fours and as many sixes. He combined with Virat Singh (72 off 39 balls) to share a 120-run stand for the third wicket and help Jharkhand post a big total of 207 runs on the board in 20 overs. Bal Krishna and spinner Anukul Roy did well with the ball to help Jharkhand restrict Tamil Nadu to 179/7 in 20 overs and secure a 28-run victory.
Sanju Samson shone for Kerala in their clash against Andhra Pradesh at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. Opening the innings for his side, the Kerala skipper played a fantastic knock of an unbeaten 73 off 56 balls. However, he failed to find support from the other end as Kerala could only manage 119/7 in 20 overs.
