Smriti Mandhanas wedding with Palash Muchhal postponed after fathers heart attack

New Delhi: India cricketer Smriti Mandhana's eye-ball grabbing wedding ceremony with music composer Palash Muchhal was postponed after a last-minute medical emergency in her family.

Mandhana's father Srinivas suffered a heart attack while preparations were on full swin for Sunday's wedding in Samdol, Sangli.

An ambulance was brought in at the Madhana Farm House and Srinivas was rushed to a hospital where he is currently reported to be in a stable condition.

"Today in the morning when he was having breakfast, Smriti Mandana's father, Mr. Srinivas Mandhana, got unwell. We waited for a while. We thought that maybe it's normal, he will be fine. But he was getting worse. So we thought, let's not take any risk, so we called an ambulance and took him to the hospital. Now he is under observation," Mandhana's manager Tuhin Mishra said, as quoted by NDTV.

"You know Smriti is very close to her father. She decided that until her father gets well, this marriage, which was supposed to happen today, is indefinitely postponed. Now he is under observation, and the doctor has said that he will have to stay in the hospital. And until he gets well, because we are also in shock, and we want him to recover soon."

Reports suggets both Mandhana and her immediate family quickly moved to the hospital, following which the wedding was called off for the time being.

It wasn't immediately clear when the ceremoney and festivities would resume as efforts have been undertaken to remove decorations.

The families of the couple requested privacy during a tense period for them as many members of Indian women's World Cup-winning team were present.

In the days preceding the wedding, multiple videos and pictures of the couple festivities floated on social media as Mandhana's tem members could be seen participating in Haldi and Mehandi ceremonies.

Mandhana got engaged to Muchhal at the DY Patil Cricket Stadium, the venue where India won the Women's 2025 World Cup recently.
