New Delhi: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored a big hundred to propel India to a mammoth 234-run win over the UAE in the opening match of the U-19 Asia Cup in Dubai.

The 14-year-old Bihar batter smashed 171 off 95 balls, including a whopping 14 sixes - the most by any batter in a single innings in the U19 level as India posted a colossal 433 for 6 in 50 overs.

Vihaan Malhotra (69) and Aaron George (69) also made useful contributions to power India to their highest-ever total in U19 ODIs and the highest in the U-19 Asia Cup's history.

In reply, the UAE never looked like overhauling the massive target despite fighting fifties from Prithvi Madhu (50) and Uddish Suri (78 not out). They eventually finished with 199/7 in their allotted 50 overs.

Sooryavanshi's astonishing knock, studded with nine boundaries, became the second-highest score by an Indian in youth ODIs, behind Ambati Rayudu's unbeaten 177 against England in 2002, the ninth-highest score by a batter in a men's U19 ODI and the highest in the tournament's history.

Sooryvanshi punishes UAE bowlers

Sent into bat, India rode on the young opener's blazing knock. The Rajasthan Royals batter hammered the UAE bowlers into submission, racing to his fifty off just 30 balls and later completing his hundred in only 56 deliveries.

He shared a 212-run partnership with George to completely demoralise the hosts' attack. His knock was ended by Uddish Suri in the 33rd over.

Chasing a daunting target, the UAE lost two wickets inside the first four overs, before the quick wickets of Muhammad Rayan, Ayaan Misbah and Ahmed Khudadad left them reeling at 48 for 5.

Suri and Madhu added 85 runs to help UAE play the full quota, but their partnership didn't have any bearing on the result.

Brief scores: India 433 for 6 in 50 overs (Vaibhav Suryavanshi 171, Vihaan Malhotra 69, Aaron George 69; Yug Sharma 2/75).

UAE 199 for 7 in 50 overs (Uddish Suri 78 not out, Prithvi Madhu 50; Deepesh Devendran 2/21)
