WPL 2026 auction: Deepti, Healy, Lanning among eight players in marquee list

Deepti Sharma and Renuka Singh Thakur are the Indian representatives in the marquee set for the WPL 2026 Auction.

New Delhi: India all-rounder Deepti Sharma, Australian wicket-keeper batter Alyssa Healy and South Africa batting star Laura Wolvaardt are among the eight-player marquee set for the upcoming Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026 auction, as per a report in Cricbuzz. As many as 277 players, divided into 39 sets, have been included in the list for the auction, which will be held on November 27 in New Delhi.

Besides Deepti, Renuka Singh is the other Indian player in the marquee group, which also comprises Kiwi veteran Sophie Devine, England spinner Sophie Ecclestone, New Zealand all-rounder Amelia Kerr and Australia legend Meg Lanning. While Renuka has a reserve price of Rs 40 lakh, Wolvaardt's reserve price is 30 lakh. The remaining players are listed at a base price of Rs 50 lakh.

A total of 19 players have put themselves in the highest reserve price bracket of Rs 50 lakh. Some of the prominent names in this list are Phoebe Litchfield, Harleen Deol, Uma Chetry, Kranti Goud, Pratika Rawal, Pooja Vastrakar and Georgia Wareham.

All five franchises will bid for potentially 73 open slots (23 overseas) from an auction list of 83 overseas players, 155 uncapped, 35 capped, and four to Associate nations.

Rs 41.1 crore at the disposal of franchises

Bangladesh leg spinner Shorna Akter and West Indies' Jahzara Claxton are the youngest capped players in the list. The franchises will have a total of Rs 41.1 crore to spend at the auction following the retention of players. UP Warriorz, who retained only one player in Shweta Sehrawat, will have the largest purse at Rs 14.5 crore.

Meanwhile, defending champions Mumbai Indians and finalists Delhi Capitals will have Rs 5.75 crore and Rs 5.7 crore at their disposal, respectively. As many as eight Right To Match (RTM) cards will be at play, with the Warriorz holding four of them.
