New Delhi: Nothing is releasing a new update that adds to its latest smartphones a long-desired feature, call recording at the touch of a button. The update also improves the usability of the Essential Key on the Nothing Phone 3, 3a and 3a Pro so that the users can record and save the calls easily. This update was announced on October 6 via the official Essential account on X, and it will allow the on-device AI to become more useful and part of everyday activity.
Through this rollout, customers can now long press the Essential Key when in a call to begin recording automatically. The feature will be confirmed by a notification where one can long-press the button or simply tap the alert to select start recording. Once the call ends, there is another notification that indicates that a recording has been saved, and it can be accessed through the Essential Space. Nothing automatically creates a title, detects participants or even offers a playback option.
In addition to mere recording, the AI used by Nothing intervenes to generate a transcript of the dialogue accompanied by a brief summary and the emphasis of key moments. This will ease the workload since users will be able to revisit critical discussions without having to replay the whole call. The update is automatic to users in the U.K., Japan, India, South Korea, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia and will be completely released by October 7.
The update also enhances Essential Space, a Nothing AI-driven hub that is meant to structure screenshots, notes, photographs and voice memos. In the first half of the year, the company introduced the functionality of using the Essential Key as a camera app that allows users to take and save important photos in Essential Space. The most recent update is one more step towards making the AI environment of Nothing more convenient and easy to interact with in real-life situations.
