New Delhi: Google has given users another glimpse of the creative possibilities of their Gemini app. Today, the brand’s official X account shared a short video that demonstrated how Gemini’s video generation feature can turn simple prompts into engaging animated clips, which will have sound effects and dialogue too.
In the caption, it said “Create an invitation right from your imagination. “. Further, it noted that the video generation in the Gemini app can turn just basic descriptions into high-quality videos spanning seconds with sound effects and dialogue and even work off from images.
In the video, there is an image of two houseplants given to Gemini with the prompt that said, “Two animated house plants inside this home invite us to a housewarming party at Emily’s this Sunday at noon.” Gemini then generated an eight-second video where the plants appeared to talk and move naturally, set to the background music and ambient sound.
The demonstration shows how Google wants their generative AI tools to become more accessible and practical for everyday users. The new capability might allow anyone without much editing skills to design personalised digital invitations, short clips and creative messages from just a few words or even images.
At present, Gemini’s video-generation feature is limited to paid customers under the Google AI Pro or Google AI Ultra plans. Free users are not going to have full access to create videos, though Google have on occasion offered a limited-time promotion allowing a few complimentary generations.
According to Google’s support documentation, users with personal accounts also need to have a Pro or Ultra subscription in order to use the feature. Some regions have briefly offered free trials, but there isn’t any ongoing free access at present.
