West Bengal Governor appoints IAS Manoj Pant as Principal Secretary to CM in Chief Secretary rank

New Delhi: West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose on Wednesday appointed outgoing Chief Secretary Manoj Pant as Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister in the rank of Chief Secretary, according to an official notification. 'Serial and fabricated complaints': EC hits out at police cases against CEC, Bengal CEO

New Delhi: The Election Commission on Wednesday strongly rejected police complaints filed against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Agarwal, describing the allegations as "premeditated, unsubstantiated and intimidatory". After UP 'rabies raita' scare, Chhattisgarh village on edge over suspected exposure from goat feast

New Delhi: Panic has spread through Sarganwa village in Chhattisgarh 's Surguja district after a goat allegedly bitten by a rabies-infected dog was sacrificed during a traditional ritual and its meat consumed by around 400 villagers. The incident occurred on December 28 during Nikali Puja, a ritual held once every three years to worship local deities, where animal sacrifice is customary. This year, 12–15 goats were sacrificed and their meat distributed as part of a community feast. Villagers later claimed that one of the goats had earlier been bitten by a "mad dog" suspected to be infected with rabies. 'False charges': Humayun Kabir alleges vendetta after police arrest his son for assault on constable

New Delhi: Golam Nabi Azad, son of Janata Unnayan Party (JUP) chief and Bharatpur MLA Humayun Kabir , was arrested on Sunday for allegedly assaulting a police constable posted at the family residence. Two killed, four injured as balloon gas cylinder explodes in Karnataka's Mysuru

AQI improves in Delhi, slips to 'poor' category at 234

New Delhi: Delhi 's air quality improved for the second consecutive day on Thursday, with the city recording a 24-hour average Air Quality Index (AQI) of 234, placing it in the 'poor ' category, though authorities warned that pollution levels are likely to deteriorate in the coming days. CCPA slaps Rs 11 lakh penalty on Vision IAS for misleading ads, first case of repeat offence

New Delhi: The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has imposed a penalty of Rs 11 lakh on coaching institute Vision IAS for publishing misleading advertisements related to the results of the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2022 and 2023, the first case in which a higher penalty has been levied for a repeat offence under consumer protection laws. The institute, registered as AjayVision Education Pvt Ltd, had claimed "7 in Top 10 & 79 in Top 100 selections in CSE 2023" and "39 in Top 50 selections in CSE 2022" in advertisements on its official website, prominently featuring the names, photographs and ranks of successful candidates. 'Atmosphere of fear': After Dipu Das, another Hindu youth lynched in Bangladesh

New Delhi: Days after Dipu Chandra Das, a Hindu factory worker, was lynched and his body set on fire, another Hindu man has been beaten to death in Bangladesh, raising concerns over mob violence and communal attacks in strife-torn country.
