Kolkata: Equity and mutual fund investments are becoming a craze in India with more and more lower middle-class and middle class individuals joining the bandwagon looking for inflation-beating returns. As digital investment is also gaining traction, investors are looking for reliable trading apps. Groww, Angel One and Zerodha are conspicuous in this expanding domain. Let's have a comparative look at each of them.

The journey of Groww began in 2016 when it was established by former Flipkart employees. It has outgrown its initial avatar when it used to deal in mutual funds only. The present bouquet includes stock trading (both intraday and delivery), 5,000+ direct mutual funds, ETFs, futures and options (F&O), IPO application, fixed deposits, digital gold and even US stocks. This is a member of the NSE, BSE, and MCX. This Bangalore-based company offers services in stocks trading, derivatives, currencies, commodities, mutual funds and bonds. It is considered to have ushered in discount brokerages and is famous for zero brokerage on delivery trades. Its Kite app is fast and user-friendly and also features charts and tools. There are no hidden charges. Zerodha usually stays way from advertising and focuses on trading -- lets its actions speak for itself. However, it does not offers such as IPO application or US stocks. It has got a very large customer base with low brokerage being a main attraction.

Angel One

Angel One is a prominent name in broking services. It was formerly known as Angel Broking. It was established in 1996 and offers trading, investment and advisory services through digital platforms. The company is right now engaged in fast expansion in tier-2 and tier-3 cities. The company's Q2 results announced this week revealed that PAT has declined 50% to Rs 212 crore (y-o-y) due to lower revenue, declining margins and lower retail trading volumes. A year ago it stood at Rs 423 crore. Lower trading activity and reduced client interest in high-margin segments were the main reasons. EBITDA slipped 38.2% to touch Rs 415.2 crore, compared to Rs 671.9 crore in the year ago priod.
