Monetise your patience: These MFs turned Rs 1 lakh into far more than Rs 1 crore
The virtue of patience in investments is overwhelming and from Warren Buffet to your humble personal finance advisor will tell you so. Now turn for some empirical evidence with half a dozen mutual funds around you that has generated eye-popping returns in 30 years.
Kolkata: Almost all of us invest in mutual fund equity-linked schemes for capital appreciation. Our investment advisors are never tired of telling us that mutual funds multiply wealth using the force of long-term compounding and that we should be patient for higher returns. But for most of us long term means five to seven years at the most, at the end of which our patience runs thin.
But let's see what long term patience means. There are about half a dozen mutual fund schemes in the country which have turned Rs 1 lakh to far in excess of Rs 1 crore in 30 years. From another point of view, it's not too long a time. It's less than the average career span of an individual. It means if an individual could entrust Rs 1 lakh as a ump sum with any of these funds, he/she would have got more than Rs 1 crore from this one investment at the time of retirement. Not a bad deal, right? Let's have a look at these funds. By the way, the returns quoted below are all from the regular growth options.
