NTPC Green share in news as firm secures order for production of 70000 MT of green ammonia
NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), a subsidiary of NTPC Green, secured a significant order to supply 70,000 metric tons of green ammonia annually to SECI (Solar Energy Corporation of India). This follows an e-reverse auction and positions NTPC REL as a key player in India's green energy transit, which puts its shares in focus.
New Delhi: State-owned NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), a subsidiary of NTPC Green, has secured an order for the production of 70000 metric tons (MT) of green ammonia and will transfer it to SECI (Solar Energy Corporation of India). The NTPC REL emerged as the successful bidder, and it was secured under the e-reverse auction conducted by the SECI. NTPC REL is a step-down subsidiary of NTPC Limited.
SECI is set to produce 7.24 MT per annum of green ammonia across 13 locations in India, said a regulatory filing. SECI is in the process of producing 7.24 lakh MT/year of green ammonia as part of its commitment towards the green energy transition.
As per the filing, the e-reverse auction was conducted by SECI for the supply of 70000 MT/year of green ammonia to its Krishana Phoschem plant in Meghnagar, Madhya Pradesh. In this regard, NTPC REL is now set to supply the green ammonia to the stated plant. The charges for supplying the green ammonia are set at Rs 51.80 per kg, said a regulatory filing.

The shares of NTPC Green closed at Rs 105.10 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Tuesday, August 5. The shares have given a negative return of around 6 percent since their listing on the stock exchange in November 2024. The price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of the company is 159, which is quite high in this segment. The market capitalization (M-Cap) of the company stands at Rs 88561 crore.
