Stock Market closing: Sensex, Nifty jump amid optimism over US-India trade talks
The BSE Sensex surged 323.83 points to 81,425.15, while the NSE Nifty jumped 104.50 points to 24,973.10 on September 10, 2025. The indices registered gains amid optimism surrounding successful US-India trade talks.
Mumbai: The BSE Sensex jumped 323.83 points to 81,425.15 on September 10, 2025, Tuesday. The NSE Nifty appreciated 104.50 points or to close at 24,973.10. The benchmark indices closed on a positive note for the sixth consecutive session as investors purchased IT, select financial and capital goods shares amid optimism over a successful conclusion of India-US trade talks.
The indices surged after US President Donald Trump said India and the US are continuing negotiations and also described Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as "my very good friend” and pitched for talks.
"I look forward to speaking with my very good friend, Prime Minister Modi, in the upcoming weeks. I feel certain that there will be no difficulty in coming to a successful conclusion for both of our Great Countries!" Trump wrote on his social media platform.
Responding to Trump’s post, PM Modi expressed confidence that US and India will reach a conclusion on the trade talks.
In a sigh of re;ief for the investors, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) resorted to buying after days of relentless selling. FIIs pimped in Rs 2,050.46 crore to buy the equities.
The gainers from the Sensex pack: Bharat Electronics, Bajaj Finance, State Bank of India, HCL Tech, TCS, Tech Mahindra Infosys, and Axis Bank.
Laggards from the barometer: Mahindra & Mahindra, Power Grid, Tata Motors, UltraTech, Eternal and Maruti.
Trump-Modi talks positive for stock market
Commenting on the market, VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Investments Ltd, said the messages of Trump and PM Modi are a welcome move and positive for the stock market.
"A major positive for the market today comes from President Trump's initiative to improve India-US relations and PM Modi's positive response to the same,” the expert said.
Japan's Nikkei 225 index, Shanghai's SSE Composite index, Hong Kong's Hang Seng and South Korea's Kospi settled in Green. The US markets finished higher on Tuesday.
On September 9, 2025, the Sensex jumped 314.02 points to end at 81,101.32. The Nifty appreciated 95.45 points to end at 24,868.60, registering its fifth day of gain.
