The footage shows the woman standing near a scooty, apparently an app-based ride, when the accused arrived at the spot in a car. He is seen taking her purse and checking it before charging at her and allegedly groping her.

The accused has been identified as Naveen Kumar. Police said Kumar allegedly started harassing the woman after coming out of his car.

The clip shows the accused repeatedly hitting the woman on her head and back and dragging her along the road. Despite several bystanders being present at the scene, no one tried to intervene.

FIR filed, probe on

The complaint alleged that he touched her inappropriately, pulled her clothes and tried to tear them despite her screaming for help.

In her FIR, the woman clamed that she first came in contact with Naveen through Instagram on September 30, 2024. Both were in constant touch with each other through calls and messages. Naveen had been putting pressure on the woman to accept her love proposal, the complaint said. Even after she resigned from her telecaller job and moved to a paying guest accommodation, the accused allegedly kept stalking her and show up near her residence, she alleged.

On the day of the incident, Naveen reportedly arrived in his car at the woman’s PG accommodation, the woman told the police. When he saw her standing outside, Naveen confronted her and allegedly beat her up in full public view, the woman said.

The accused has been taken into custody and further probe is on. They are trying to dive deep into the incident. Investigators examining the greater details.
