Bengaluru: After waiting for months, progress on the Ejipura flyover in Bengaluru has finally gained momentum. Officials now say that 63.5 per cent of the project is complete, and they are sure about finishing the work till the June 2026 deadline. The 2.5-km flyover, which has ramps on both ends, is now almost two-thirds finished.

Most of the main structure is ready. Out of the 764 total segments needed for the bridge, 584 have already been cast about 76 per cent. According to officials, all segments have been prepared and only need to be installed.

Work at the Sakalavara Bannerghatta Road casting yard is also speeding up to support faster installation. Construction of the ramps on both ends is going on, and nearly 90 per cent of the footpath work is done. The remaining part is expected to be completed within the next two months.

‘Land acquisition remains the final major hurdle’

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar recently visited the site and instructed the team to ensure timely completion. Officials are also holding review meetings every 15 days to monitor progress.

Bharath, a site engineer, explained that the earlier contractor left midway, forcing authorities to retender the project. This pushed the progress backwards. Land acquisition issues also created long delays. A senior official from the Greater Bengaluru Authority said that land acquisition remains the final major hurdle.

About 5,999 square metres of land near St. John’s Medical College is yet to be acquired. Discussions are ongoing with the hospital to resolve the issue quickly.
