‘Worst traffic management, useless cops’: Samajwadi MP vents anger at Bengaluru over traffic chaos

Bengaluru is considered the slowest for traffic in terms of global indexes. Despite promises made by political parties on several occasions, the city continues to remain congested.

Bengaluru: The Bengaluru traffic is known for its chaos. Even after so many promises made by the government, the issue has not been sorted yet. The latest victim of the Bengaluru traffic was Samajwadi Party MP Rajeev Rai, who vented anger at the Karnataka Government over the issue.

The MP from Uttar Pradesh’s Ghosi constituency was stuck in the Bengaluru traffic before he was scheduled to catch a flight for Delhi. Taking to X, he wrote to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah that he was to reach Delhi for the Parliament session. However, he might get late due to the traffic congestion in Bengaluru, Rai said.

"Hon’ble CM of Karnataka, I'm sorry, but you have the worst traffic management and the most irresponsible, useless traffic police. They don’t even pick up phone calls. Here is the SS of my attempt to speak to them; none of them picked up my call," Rai wrote.

Explaining further, Rai observed that he got stuck in Rajkumar Samadhi Road for close to an hour and might miss the flight. "Tomorrow I have to attend a parliamentary session. Not a single policeman is seen around," he wrote.

Slamming officials further, the MP added, "These inefficient officers are enough to spoil the name and charm of this beautiful city. No doubt now Bengaluru traffic has earned the reputation of the most notorious traffic.”

Bengaluru is known for slow traffic

It is important to note here that Bengaluru is considered the slowest for traffic in terms of global indexes. Despite promises made by political parties on several occasions, the city continues to remain congested. The traffic in the city has earned criticism from business heads and other people on several occasions.

The state government had recently proposed an underground tunnel road network for Rs 19,000 to ease congestion. The plan, however, faced opposition from scientists, civic activists, and others.
