New Delhi: Dense fog engulfed Delhi-NCR and other parts of North India, with visibility reduced to zero early on Sunday morning, affecting normal life. Those going out had to face extreme cold wave conditions. The low visibility has also impacted flight operations. The minimum temperature is expected to closely hover around 5 degree celsius on Sunday.

Airlines share messages on X
"Reduced visibility due to dense fog is forecast in parts of Northern India, including Delhi, tomorrow morning. These conditions may have a cascading impact on flight schedules across our network,” it wrote on X.
The airline added, "We understand how important your travel plans are and have taken some proactive measures to minimise disruptions (details available at http://bit.ly/4agYVyF). In the event of any unexpected delay, diversion, or cancellation, our ground staff will be at your service to extend support.”
IndiGo too took to X and wrote, "Low visibility and fog over #Delhi and #Hindon (Airport) may impact flight schedules. We are closely monitoring the weather and doing our best to get you where you need to be, safely and smoothly.”

What IMD prediction say?
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the national capital recorded the minimum temperature of 4.4 degrees Celsius on Saturday, which was 3.2 degrees Celsius below average. According to the department, the temperature may rise gradually between January 17 and January 20; however, another spell of cold wave may be expected between January 23 and January 26.
Meanwhile, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi on Sunday morning was 438 at 8 AM, putting the national capital in the 'Severe' category, as per Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Most areas in the city crossed 400 AQI level.
