New Delhi: A major accident was narrowly avoided on Thursday in Sector 91, Noida, after a moving BMW suddenly caught fire. The driver noticed smoke emerging from the hood and quickly pulled over, managing to escape just moments before the vehicle went up in flames.

According to police and fire department officials, the incident took place near the red light of Panchsheel Boys Inter College in the Phase-2 police station area. The car’s owner, Naresh Kaushal, a resident of Lajpat Nagar in Delhi, was driving towards the capital when he saw light smoke rising from the engine area.

Sensing danger, Naresh immediately stopped the vehicle and stepped out. Within minutes, thick smoke began billowing from the car, followed by flames that quickly engulfed the entire vehicle. The luxury car was completely reduced to ashes.

Passersby promptly informed the police and fire brigade. A fire engine reached the spot and firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control after considerable effort. However, the vehicle was already fully destroyed.

No injuries or casualties reported

Officials confirmed that there were no injuries or casualties in the incident. They added that the cause of the fire is under investigation, with initial assessments pointing to a possible technical or electrical fault, engine overheating, or a fuel line issue.
