New Delhi: An 11-year-old boy from Hyderabad died after being brutally assaulted by his stepfather. Initial investigations revealed that the minor, identified as Mohammed Asghar, was a resident of the Chandrayangutta area.
Asghar lived with his stepfather, Sheikh Imran, along with his mother and siblings. On Sunday, Asghar was playing with some children when Imran spotted him. Imran first beat the boy with his hands, then lifted him and slammed him to the ground.
The boy sustained serious injuries and was taken to a hospital. He succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Imran had repeatedly warned the boy not to get involved with certain individuals. Following a complaint, the police registered a case and are investigating the matter.
In a separate case, a five-year-old child died after being electrocuted by decorative Diwali lights on Tuesday night, Delhi Police said.
According to Delhi Police, the statement of the father of the deceased, Santosh, a resident of Radha Vihar, Mukundpur, Delhi, stated that he has three children and that the deceased was his youngest son.
He further stated that his landlord, Sarjur Shah, had installed electric lights for decoration on the rooftop of the house.
