Hyderabad: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the phone-tapping case in Telangana, has issued notices to BRS working president and former minister KT Rama Rao on Thursday, January 22.
The notice instructs him to appear for questioning at 11 AM on Friday. SIT officials stated that the questioning will likely take place at the Jubilee Hills Police Station. The notice was served to him at his residence in Nandi Nagar under Section 160 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).
SIT questions Harish Rao:
The SIT has already questioned former minister Harish Rao for approximately seven and a half hours on Tuesday. The authorities have instructed him not to contact or influence any witnesses involved in the investigation. The SIT has decided to summon Harish Rao for questioning again soon in this case, reports said. The investigation into the allegations of illegal phone tapping has been ongoing since March 10, 2024.
A primary charge sheet has been filed against some of the accused. The SIT is continuing its investigation in greater depth.
Who are the accused in phone-tapping case?
At least six people have been named in the case so far, including ex-Special Intelligence Bureau (SIB) T Prabhakar Rao, former DSP D Praneet Rao among others for destroying gadgets immediately after the BRS lost elections in December 2023.
