Hyderabad woman murdered by tenant for gold; body recovered from Konaseema district in AP
The police said that her body was recovered on Tuesday morning from the Vainateya Godavari river, Appanapalli and K. Enugupalli near Mamidikuduru in BR Konaseema district of Andhra Pradesh.
Hyderabad: Nacharam Police have cracked the murder of a 65-year-old woman Sujatha, a home owner who was killed for gold at her residence in Mallapur, Nacharam in the city.
The police said that her body was recovered on Tuesday morning from the Vainateya Godavari river, Appanapalli and K. Enugupalli near Mamidikuduru in BR Konaseema district of Andhra Pradesh. All three accused are arrested, CI Dhanunjay said.
Main accused kills woman for gold:
The main accused identified as Anji Babu, 33, a cab driver originally from AP, rented a portion of the woman’s house about two months ago. Sujatha was reportedly living alone after the demise of her husband and sons.
Anji Babu killed Sujatha on the night of December 19 and fled the scene after robbing 11 tolas of gold. He reportedly locked her body in the house and fled to his native place. Upon reaching his village, he informed about the murder to his friends Yuvaraju, 18 and Durga Rao, 35.
The trio returned to Nacharam in a cab on December 20 and transported the body back to Krishna Lanka in Konaseema district and dumped it in the Godavari river.
Deceased woman’s sister lodges police complaint:
The incident came to light only when Sujatha’s sister Suvarnalatha, who lives in Moinabad, went to her house and found her missing. She lodged a complaint with the police. During the investigation, the police suspected the tenant’s disappearance and traced Anji babu, after which they detained him. Anji babu confessed to his crime during the interrogation.
The police rushed to Konaseema district to recover the body after the accused confessed his crime.
