New Delhi: A five-year-old girl, injured after being bitten by a stray dog, has died during treatment in Maharashtra's Thane district. The girl was attacked by a stray dog last month. She was undergoing treatment at a government hospital in Dombivl.

Stray dog menace: Thane civic body remains inactive
Advocate Rohidas Munde has demanded an impartial inquiry into the matter and Stated that the treatment methods, quality of medicines, medical supervision, and referral process should be investigated. He also added that the issue of stray dogs in Thane's Diva has been pending for a long time, and that the administration needs to implement preventive measures more effectively.
Last month, a two-year-old girl sustained serious injuries after being attacked by a stray dog in Thane district. A video of the incident had gone viral on social media.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Rohidas Munde blamed the civic body for the incident and said that the number of dogs in the area where the girl was attacked has been increasing despite repeated complaints. He also warned that his party would collect all dogs in the area and release stray dogs in the Thane Municipal Corporation's office if the civic body fails to take immediate action to capture them.
Thane civic body announces measures to contain dog menace
The Thane Municipal Corporation recently announced some measures to check the city's stray dog population. The civic body announced to construct dedicated shelters and expand sterilisation and vaccination drives. It has also decided citywide awareness campaigns.
