Mumbai: Commuters on Central Railway should prepare themselves for heavy disruptions starting this weekend, as seven major operational blocks are planned across several routes from November 24 through early December 2025.
As per plans, blocks will take place on the Panvel-Kalamboli, Badlapur, Nilje-Dativali and Lonavala-Lonavala Yard sections. Some of these shutdowns will continue into the first week of December, with more blocks scheduled on the Nilje-Dativali stretch on December 7 and 8.
Train services on suburban, harbour line and long-distance routes are likely to be hit. The long block planned in the Lonavala Yard between November 26 and 29 is expected to cause the biggest delays.
A major block was already carried out on the Thane-Kalyan fast line on Sunday, November 23. Another special traffic and power block was undertaken between Kasara and Khardi for commissioning a new Electronic Interlocking system at Umbermali, part of the ongoing third-line project between Kalyan and Kasara. This block lasted from 10.40 pm on November 22 to 7.40 am on November 23, affecting several early-morning long-distance trains.
Another special block is planned on the Nilje-Dativali Up and Down lines for the dismantling of the old road overbridge at Shilphata, linked to the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation project. This block will remain in force from 1.10 am to 4.10 am. On November 25/26, train no. 12134 Mangaluru-CSMT Superfast Express will be held at Kalamboli for 50 minutes. The same train will be regulated on November 30 and December 1, and train no. 22193 Daund–Gwalior Superfast Express will be diverted via Karjat–Kalyan–Vasai Road, with an additional halt at Kalyan.
Additional blocks: December 7/8, 2025
