The journey of Leeza Majhi, who cleared NEET UG 2025 and joined MBBS at Sundergarh Government Medical College, Odisha, shows how education empowers to overcome socio-economic hurdles.
Bhubanewswar: Pursuing medical education is a dream for millions of students. When we discuss NEET success stories, there is always a blend of strategic preparation and dedication behind every candidate. If people think that money and other support are needed to crack NEET, they should meet Leeza Majhi, daughter of a tribal farmer who cleared the medical entrance exam and secured admission in the Sundargarh Government Medical College in Odisha.
Leeza Majhi, who hails from Bamra in Sambhalpur district, studied matriculation at Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya (OAV) in Bamra. She completed her class 10 or matriculation with 82 per cent from OAV in Bamra. Leeza chose the science stream with an aim to pursue medicine at the OAV Iconic in Bhubaneswar. The official sources suggest Leeza Majhi secured 81.6 per cent marks in class 12 board examinations.
"Her perseverance and dedication bore fruit when she qualified NEET and fulfilled her dream of becoming a doctor. Leeza started her journey from the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) in Bamra in 2021, PTI quoted the official statement.
Leeza expressed her gratitude to KGBV, which has provided free residential education, besides mentoring and motivating her to crack the NEET UG 2025 exam. She also appreciated this central government scheme, which not only offers quality education to girls belonging to marginalised communities but also encourages them to shape their academic path.
"Leeza's success is not just an individual triumph, but a symbol of hope for countless girls across rural Odisha. Her journey from the KGBV to the medical college shows that education is the most powerful tool of empowerment," PTI quoted a KGBV official.
