NEET PG cut-off 2025 drops across categories

The NEET PG cut-off marks drop across all categories. Candidates should note that the cut-off marks are the main criteria to qualify for the postgraduate medical courses. The cut-off marks are made available for each category for the reasons of diversity and inclusivity in the admission process, but also to maintain a higher standard of merit. Candidates should realise that these cut-off marks are more than just numbers; they have implications for the counselling and seat allocation process in respect of government, private and deemed universities.

While candidates must now obtain the minimum cut-off to be eligible for counselling rounds, a higher score will allow the aspirant a better chance at their specialisation or university of choice.

Gaurav Tyagi, Medical Counsellor, Career Xpert, said, "The earlier announcement of results in 2025 has afforded students additional time in planning for the next level. More than two lakh students are vying for a small number of postgraduate seats, and every mark over the cut-off makes a difference - no matter how small."

"The cut-off marks also determine the level of difficulty of the exam and also impact how the candidates will be distributed amongst clinical and non-clinical disciplines. The take-home for aspiring candidates is this: when students clear the cut-off, they simply enter the counselling process; however, it is only well clear above the cut-off that better and more lucrative opportunities will come about. The cut-off marks serve as both a minimum qualifying barrier and competitive benchmark for one of India's most popular entrance exams” Tyagi added.
