The Basic Shiksha Adhikari said that the decision was made on the directions of District Magistrate Avinash Singh. The decision has been taken as Bareilly continues to face extreme cold, dense fog and poor visibility in the morning. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for dense fog for the next three days.

Authorities have confirmed that schools where exams are already scheduled may conduct them as per the pre-decided timetable. Apart from this, no regular classes will be allowed during the closure period. Officials have urged school managements to comply strictly with the order to avoid penalties.

Severe cold disrupts school schedule

Bareilly and nearby areas have been covered by a thick blanket of fog and cold winds have made conditions harsh. As per officials, Tuesday was recorded as the coldest day in the last 10 years in Bareilly, with the maximum temperature falling to 16.3 degrees Celsius. The administration has advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel specifically during early hours.

People have also been urged to take special care of children and elderly family members as the cold conditions are expected to continue with no immediate relief. Meanwhile, as per reports, schools in Delhi have also been closed due to rising air pollution levels with weather-related disruptions.
