Jharkhand scripted history on Thursday by winning its maiden Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and became the 12th team to claim India's domestic T20 league title. Riding on skipper Ishan Kishan's 45-ball century, Jharkhand defeated Haryana by 69 runs in the SMAT 2025 final at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune. Kishan's fifth century - the joint-highest in the tournament's history alongside Abhishek Sharma - led the foundation for Jharkhand's landmark win.
Kishan's 48-ball 101 and Kumal Kushagra's 38-ball 81 powered Jharkhand to the tournament record 262/3 in 20 overs. Despite losing Virat Singh in the opening over, Jharkhand posted a mammoth total courtesy of a 177-run stand between Kishan and Kushagra for the second wicket.
Chasing the daunting target, Haryana kept losing wickets at regular intervals and lost the match by 69 runs after being bowled out for 193 in 18.3 overs.
Left-arm pacer Sushant Mishra was the pick of the bowlers for Jharkhand with excellent figures of 3 for 27 in four overs. Bal Krishna also picked up three wickets.
It was a historic campaign for the Jharkhand cricket team, which won only their second trophy in the domestic circuit and first since the 2010-11 Vijay Hazare Trophy with a fantastic run that included nine wins in 10 matches and just one loss.
