Netflix is inviting audiences into the heart of Bollywood royalty with its upcoming special Dining with the Kapoors, releasing on November 21. The documentary brings together the Kapoor family for their famous annual family lunch while celebrating the 100-year legacy of the legendary Raj Kapoor.
Created by Armaan Jain, directed and written by Smriti Mundhra, whose previous Netflix successes include Indian Matchmaking and The Romantics, and produced by Aavashyak Media, the special offers an intimate, fly-on-the-wall look at India’s most celebrated film family. Viewers will see candid, unfiltered moments filled with laughter, affection, and heartfelt memories passed across generations.
The cast includes Randhir Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Rima Jain, Ranbir Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, and several other members of the close-knit family. The documentary captures the warmth, chaos, and charisma that have made the Kapoors Bollywood’s first family.
Tanya Bami, Series Head, Netflix India, said, “For close to a decade, Netflix has championed and expanded India’s appetite for documentary storytelling, exploring diverse genres and distinct voices within the format. With Dining with the Kapoors, we bring a story that is both momentous and heartwarming. As the Kapoor clan comes together to celebrate 100 years of their legendary patriarch, Raj Kapoor, the table overflows with food, laughter, and love.”
She added that under Smriti Mundhra’s expert direction, the film “offers an intimate glimpse into the traditions, conversations, and bonds that define the Kapoor Khaandaan.”
Creator Armaan Jain described the experience as deeply personal. “Bringing the Kapoor khandan together around the table felt like unlocking generations of stories — the laughter, the chaos, the endless food, and of course, the banter that’s basically in our DNA,” he said. “This project is a heartfelt ode to family, film, and the memories that shape us. There could have been no better partner than Netflix to bring this story to life.”
With its blend of legacy, laughter, and love, Dining with the Kapoors promises to be an unmissable feast for film lovers. The table is set, and the celebration begins on Netflix from November 21.
