New Delhi: Big cheers for movie lovers in Delhi. Farhan Akhtar's powerful war drama 120 Bahadur has just turned tax-free, slashing ticket prices and making it easier for everyone to catch this heroic tale.
Honouring the brave soldiers of the 1962 Sino-Indian War, the film salutes Major Shaitan Singh Bhati and his Charlie Company. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced the big news. Don't miss this tribute to real-life courage on the big screen.
Delhi's government has waived entertainment tax on 120 Bahadur, letting viewers enjoy Farhan Akhtar's latest film at lower costs. The decision came just days after its November 21 release. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta confirmed it on X (formerly Twitter), praising the movie's tribute to history.
In her post, Rekha Gupta wrote: “#120Bahadur, a historical war film, pays tribute to the extraordinary courage, leadership, and sacrifice of the 120 soldiers of Charlie Company, 13 Kumaon Regiment, who fought valiantly in the Battle of Rezang La during the 1962 Sino-Indian War. The film highlights the inspiring leadership of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, whose actions and sacrifice remain a defining symbol of courage in India’s military history. As a special mark of respect to the valiant soldiers, the Delhi Government has decided to grant tax-free status to the film in Delhi from 28th Nov. Congratulations to the creators of the film!"
This move aims to honour the soldiers' legacy and draw bigger crowds, especially students and families.
Directed by Razneesh Ghai, 120 Bahadur recreates the fierce Battle of Rezang La from the 1962 Indo-China conflict. Farhan Akhtar plays Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, the Param Vir Chakra awardee who led Charlie Company of the 13 Kumaon Regiment. Raashii Khanna joins him in the key role.
Produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar's Excel Entertainment with Trigger Happy Studios, the film was shot in Rajasthan, Ladakh, and Mumbai to show the tough battle terrains.
The film opened strongly but saw a mid-week dip. Sacnilk data shows Day 6 earnings at Rs 1 crore, down from Rs 1.50 crore on Tuesday and Rs 1.4 crore on Monday. Total India net collection stands at about Rs 14 crore.
It faces competition from comedy Mastiii 4, starring Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh, and Aftab Shivdasani. While 120 Bahadur leads overall, Mastiii 4 edged ahead on weekdays, collecting Rs 1.15 crore on Wednesday.
This tax-free status from November 28 could spark a fresh wave of viewers, celebrating India's war heroes through gripping cinema.
