Section 375

This movie released in 2019 was directed Ajay Bhal. The plot of the movie involves a film director accused of rape by his assistant costume designer. The defence lawyer, played by Akshaye Khanna, and the prosecutor, portrayed by Richa Chadha, fight in the High Court and showcase the complexities of the case.

Shaurya is a 2008 movie directed by Samar Khan. The movie revolves around the killing of a senior officer in a counter-insurgency operation. Though the film is largely set in a court room atmosphere, it touches upon legal ethics and how power can influencer justice.

Mulk is a 2018 movie directed by Anubhav Sinha. The center of the plot is a Muslim family accused of terrorism. Rishi Kapoor, who plays the patriarch of the family, along with Taapsee Pannu, the daughter-in-law, fights in court to prove innocence. 

Pink 

This is a 2016 movie, starring Amitabh Bachchan. Directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, the story is about three women who get arrested after a late night with men. Victim-blaming, character assassination, consent and patriarchal attitudes, are some of the themes explored in this movie. The movie led to conversations online and offline. It was screened at the UN for the gender rights message it conveyed. 

Jai Bhim 

The Tamil movie Jai Bhim was released in 2021. The film starring Surya in the lead was directed by T. J. Gnanavel. The plot is inspired by the 1993 case from Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu that involves the torturing of a tribal couple by the cops and the missing of the husband. In the movie, Surya portrays the lawyer fighting for their justice. 

Shahid 

This is a Bollywood movie released in 2012. It talks about the life of a lawyer named Shahid Azmi, played by Rajkummar Rao, who defended terror-accused in India. Later, he gets assassinated in 2010. The film explores the grit and moral resolve to defend unpopular cases.
