The much-awaited Tamil film Arasan is set to be released soon, making its entry into the world inspired by the 2018 film Vada Chennai. Directed by Vetri Maaran and starring Silambarasan, this film is generating a lot of interest among fans. The promo for Arasan was scheduled to premiere on YouTube at 10:07 am on October 17th.
The promo sets a dark, gritty tone with intense visuals showcasing STR’s powerful and cold-blooded character, hinting at a crime-action drama rooted in the Vada Chennai universe but with a fresh new story. STR appears in a serious, action-oriented avatar with a strong body language that fits a ruthless character, possibly a murderer playing a calculated game, as indicated by the promo’s mood.
Director Vetri Maaran’s narration and the background score by Anirudh Ravichander contribute to a raw and powerful atmosphere, amplifying the film's tension and energy. Arasan is produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu under the banner of V Creations. This movie is special because it marks the first collaboration between director Vetri Maaran and music composer Anirudh. Anirudh's music for the film has a very different feel compared to Santhosh Narayanan’s score for Vada Chennai, but it fits perfectly with the mood of Arasan.
The original 2018 film Vada Chennai starred Dhanush as Anbu, a carrom board player who becomes a leader of a fisherfolk community and later a gangster due to betrayals and false alliances. Arasan builds on the world created in that story but brings new characters and style.
Anirudh recently released the theme music from the Arasan promo as a birthday gift to himself, celebrating his special day. Silambarasan took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his admiration for Anirudh’s work and also wished the composer a happy birthday. This gesture has added more warmth and energy around the film’s release.
