Bigg Boss 19 contestant Gaurav Khanna faces backlash for refusing to cook despite winning celebrity MasterChef

New Delhi: Gaurav Khanna, the former Anupamaa actor and current contestant on Bigg Boss 19, is being slammed by fans and social media users. Because he refused to cook food for his fellow housemates. The controversy has sparked a debate since Khanna had recently won the latest season of Celebrity MasterChef India. His refusal to cook, citing reasons related to his contract and purpose in the show, did not go well with viewers who expected him to showcase his cooking skills on the reality show.

During a recent episode of Bigg Boss 19, house captain Kunickaa Sadanand asked Gaurav Khanna to take up the responsibility of cooking. However, Khanna declined, stating, "I have come here for a reason, to win and not to cook. Everyone here has a democracy, I also have one, and I will keep my point." He also mentioned that his contract explicitly stated that he would not be required to cook on the show.

Following the growing backlash, Gaurav Khanna's team released an official statement on X to address the controversy. The statement clarified that the cooking on Bigg Boss is very different from what Khanna did on Celebrity MasterChef. "At MasterChef, Gaurav worked with guidance, preparing one plated dish with finesse. In Bigg Boss, it's about cooking daily meals for people, with no supervision," the statement explained.

The response also shed light on Khanna’s journey, noting that before participating in MasterChef, he did not have any prior cooking experience. The show, according to the team, was about learning and performing under pressure, and winning the title reflected determination rather than existing skill. The statement concluded by addressing the trolling: "Judging him today based on one statement about Indian food is unfair. We stand by you, #GK".

While this statement has saved Gaurav this time. But his fans don't seem very satisfied with his behaviour and decisions taken in the Bigg Boss house.
