New Delhi: Salman Khan has returned to host Bigg Boss 19, this time with an unexpected twist. The trailer was released by JioHotstar on Thursday (August 7) and offers a dramatic sneak peek into the upcoming season. It also hinted at a radical shift in the show’s core dynamic. Titled ‘Gharwalon Ki Sarkaar.’
The new theme also marks a turning point in the long-running reality series, where power is handed over entirely to the contestants.
Clad in a politician’s ensemble, Salman is seen addressing viewers against a set designed to echo the Indian Parliament, as he announces the game’s reinvention. “Aisa pehli baar hua 18–19 saalon mein. This time, Bigg Boss won’t be about crazy drama, but about democracy,” he declares in the trailer. He goes on to explain that for the first time in nearly two decades, all decisions, major and minor, will be made by the housemates themselves.
The host’s signature style remains intact, as he delivers a cheeky warning, “So housemates, do whatever you want to do, man, but be ready for the consequences and the public, because this time in Bigg Boss, it's the Gharwaalon ki Sarkaar.”
In a statement released alongside the trailer, Salman elaborated on the theme. “Bigg Boss every season is different, but this time, the tables have turned. Gharwalon Ki Sarkaar ka matlab hai power unke haath mein, aur jab power milti hai, toh asli chehre saamne aate hain,” he said, adding that although the contestants are being given full control, each decision they make will carry consequences. “Main hamesha kehta hoon, tameez se khelo, par yeh log tameez chhod ke drama le aate hain,” he added with his trademark flair.
While the full list of contestants remains under wraps, rumours are swirling. Priyanka Jagga, previously ousted in Season 10 after a clash with Salman, has hinted at a comeback. Reports also suggest that Ram Kapoor, Dheeraj Dhoopar, and Apoorva Mukhija could be joining the fray.
Bigg Boss 19 is slated to premiere on August 24, streaming on JioHotstar at 9 PM and airing on Colors at 10:30 PM.
