Dharmendra death news: Veteran actor Dharmendra became the subject of widespread concern on Friday after social media platforms and several unverified reports claimed that the 88-year-old star had passed away. However, the claims were dismissed shortly after by his daughter, Esha Deol and Hema Malini, who issued a clear statement confirming that the Sholay star is alive, stable, and currently recovering.

Esha shared a message on Instagram (f, addressing the misinformation. She wrote, “The media seems to be in overdrive and spreading false news. My father is stable and recovering. We request everyone to give our family privacy. Thank you for the prayers for Papa’s speedy recovery.” Her statement helped put an end to the speculation that had caused anxiety among admirers of the legendary actor.

Dharmendra had reportedly been admitted to a Mumbai hospital in October for what was described as a routine medical check-up. According to his team, he had been in good health and remained under observation slightly longer than expected as doctors conducted additional precautionary tests. No alarming health concerns were reported at the time and the actor was said to be under professional care.

The rumours of his passing began circulating on Tuesday morning and quickly spread across platforms. Fans, industry colleagues and public figures began sharing condolence messages before the clarification was issued. The incident raised concerns about the growing trend of false death announcements, which often originate from unverified social media handles and are amplified without cross-checking information.

Hema Malini also took to X (formerly Twitter) and wote, "What is happening is unforgivable! How can responsible channels spread false news about a person who is responding to treatment and is recovering? This is being extremely disrespectful and irresponsible. Please give due respect to the family and its need for privacy."
