Director Vikram Bhatt denies 30 crore fraud claim; says FIR is misleading

Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt claimed that the Rajasthan police have been misled. He also added he would cooperate with the investigation.

Mumbai: An FIR was filed against Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt in a Rs 30 crore fraud case in Rajasthan. The case was filed by Dr Ajay Murdia, a doctor and founder of Indira IVF, at the Bhupalpura police station.

However, Bhatt denied the allegations and opined that the FIR was misleading. As per the FIR, Bhatt promised the doctor of producing a film about his late wife. He told her that it would generate Rs 200 crore in profits, but Bhatt and his team defrauded Rs 30 crore.

"I feel that the Rajasthan Police has been misled. As far as my question is concerned, I have been told that I have NCE. But I have not received anything like that," said Bhatt. He added, "So, at first I thought it was NCE. But now I came to know that it is FIR. I don't have any letter, no notice, nothing. And he says that in greed of 200 crores, I made a scam of 30 crores. What is it, Neeraj ji, if he has told this to the police, surely he will have some evidence. If this is the case, then he is FIRED." 

He also alleged that the involvement of fake documents. "It's obvious that he must have created some fabricated, forged documents. I don't know what exactly, but there must be something he used to convince the police," said the director. 

He also accused the doctor of stopping the production of the film Virat abruptly and not paying technicians. 

"He stopped the film Virat midway. And the payment that needs to be made to workers, about Rs 250 crore, has still not been paid. My technicians have called him. I think this is some tactic of his to avoid making payments," said Bhatt. 

He also added that he would cooperate with the investigation.
