New Delhi: Vijay Deverakonda’s highly anticipated action thriller, Kingdom, is already making headlines days before its official release. Within just 24 hours of advance bookings opening, over 30,000 tickets were sold across major ticketing platforms in India. It has set a new benchmark for the Telugu actor’s career and reaffirms his mass appeal amongst his fanbase.

Directed by Gowtam Naidu Tinnanuri, the action-packed drama is slated to hit cinemas worldwide on July 31. Titled Saamrajya for the Hindi-speaking audience, the film will mark Vjay’s first theatrical release of the year and the director’s return to filmmaking after a three-year hiatus since Jersey.

The story centres on VD’s character, who is a morally torn police officer with a violent past. He is assigned to bring order to a land fractured by betrayal and power struggles. His portrayal is said to be intense, layered, and a dramatic departure from his earlier roles.

Buzz surrounding the release hasn’t been confined to India alone. Pre-sales in overseas markets, particularly in North America, have surged, prompting the producers to arrange premiere screenings on July 30, a day prior to the global release. The strong response has been credited to the film’s intriguing premise, high-octane trailer, and Vijay’s return to a gritty avatar.

Kingdom has been jointly bankrolled by Naga Vamsi S and Sai Soujanya under Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas. It is presented by Srikara Studios, with Aditya Bhatia from Adwise Movies backing the Hindi version.

About Kingdom

The production has also attracted attention for its multi-lingual audio experience. Ranbir Kapoor, Jr. NTR, and Suriya have lent their voices to the Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil versions, respectively. Meanwhile, Anirudh Ravichander has composed the film’s background score. Originally scheduled for a May 30 release, Kingdom was postponed in light of Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7 by the Indian armed forces after the Pahalgam terror attack.
